SUMMARY:Deep Woods Adventure - Beginner Games
DESCRIPTION:A group of travellers\, lost in the forest\, search for clues to find a way to safety… Deep Woods Adventure is a Strange Games special – a home-brewed\, ‘lifesize’ version of the push-your-luck game ‘Deep Sea Adventure’\, played in the woods. \nWant to play? The game will be set up and available all weekend\, including instructions. Find it on the footpath that is near the old lake\, at the far end of Willows 4 past the campfire (look for a line with brightly-coloured rags attached). \nThree ‘beginners’ games will also be run at the start of the Festival:\n6pm Friday – please arrive at the Activity Centre by 5.55pm\n10am Saturday – please arrive at the Activity Ccentre by 9.55am\n11am Saturday – please arrive at the Activity Centre by 10.55am \nPlease turn up promptly as we will leave the Activity Centre at the advertised time or before if we have enough players \nCome along to the ‘new friends’ meeting point in the Activity Centre just before this time if you’d like to play – don’t be late! We need 3-6 players for the game to run.\nUnfortunately\, we won’t be able to take more than this\, but there should be others there to play something else if not! \n  \nSuitable for: 3-7 players (including a ‘GM’)\, 45-60 mins. Even better played in the dusk/dark (8pm is a good start time if so)\, but do bring torches as the path is unlit and uneven in places. \nAccessibility: The game involves walking on an unlit woodland footpath\, which is across one of the camping fields. It can be a little uneven in places and may be unsuitable for wheelchair users\, depending on your mobility. The game also needs the majority of players to tell colours apart and to tie/untie loose knots\, however the GM or a volunteer can support with this without impacting the running of the game. \nChildren: Older children used to playing boardgames can play this game\, if their adult is also playing. There are also some suggested variations to the rules that you might find helpful if you want to play a ‘family game’ with children. \n  \n[6 spaces available]

SUMMARY:The Waking of Whilloby Hall
DESCRIPTION:A dead wizard’s mansion\, a golden goose\, an angry giant. And you. \nJoin a rag tag group of adventurers to Persidion the Perfidious’ Magical Manse of Mayhem\, where things have already begun to go wrong. SUMMARY:Sign
DESCRIPTION:A live-action game based on the true story of Nicaraguan Sign Language\, where deaf children in a country with no official sign language spontaneously created their own.\nPlayers embody students on their first day of school. Along the way\, they’ll make friends\, learn about themselves and build their own language together piece by piece. \nPlayers will select from pre-made characters. Gameplay is split between ‘classes’ and ‘recess’ with each session lasting around 10-15 minutes and will feature both the structured creation of a basic sign language and freeform interactions with other characters using that language. The game explores themes around what it means to communicate and to be understood. No RPG experience required. The game is very rules light. Total play time is around 2 hours \nThe game doesn’t feature any mature or triggering themes. We will use an X card and safety word so that if anything does come up during the game that players aren’t comfortable with we can remove it. \nPlease note that the majority of the game is played in total silence. If spending ~1.5 hours in silence doesn’t sound fun or interesting this may not be the game for you! \nThe game makes use of physical contact as a means of communication (e.g. characters tapping each other to get one another’s attention\, or otherwise communicating using physical touch). If any players would be more comfortable not using any physical contact that is totally fine and we will discuss preferences before playing. \nThe game involves players drawing on their hands in pen. Washable ink pens will be provided. \nThis game is for players 18+ only \n[6 spaces available]

SUMMARY:Alice is Missing
DESCRIPTION:A silent role-playing game about the disappearance of Alice Briarwood\, a high school junior in the small town of Silent Falls. Players will take on the roles of Alice’s friends and attempt to solve the mystery of her disappearance. \nThe game is played live and without verbal communication. Players inhabit their character for the entirety of the 90-minute play session\, and instead of speaking\, send text messages back and forth to the other characters in a group chat\, as well as individually\, as though they aren’t in the same place together. \nThe main narrative of the game is played in silence while a soundtrack plays in the background. This is a heavily thematic and emotive roleplaying experience. The game is light on rules and focuses on storytelling\, character relationships and worldbuilding. No specific RPG experience is required but players will need to be willing to get fully involved in roleplaying and storytelling (roleplaying is all done in the first person and the story is created and told by the players not by the GM) \nContent and player safety:\nThis game inherently deals with a missing teenage girl in a small town\, and all of the topics that can arise when that happens. Because of this\, themes like tense family dynamics\, grief\, death\, violence\, jealousy\, and helplessness can and often do come up during the game. \nThe game is intended to be an intensely immersive experience but players should not be made to feel uncomfortable by anything that comes up. \nWe will be using safety tools including an X card and lines & veils\, so that players can remove any content or themes they are not comfortable with\, both before and during the game. \nThe game is played using a WhatsApp groupchat. Players will need an internet connected (and charged!) smartphone with WhatsApp installed. It will not be possible to play without this. \nThe main narrative of the game is played with a 90 minute timer\, total play time including setup\, character creation and debrief is expected to be around 2.5-3 hours. \nThis game is for players 18+ only. \n[4 spaces available]

SUMMARY:Deathbringer Meets\, Sailors on the Starless Sea\, DnD
DESCRIPTION:You have been tasked with rescuing the villagers that have been going missing from your home hamlet of Floxfield\, the town elders look to you in this time of desperation. The keep looming high on the hill has long been a source of fearsome tales and terrible legends\, all clues point to this location for the source of the abductions of your fellow towns folk.as the towns heroes you don your armour and raise your sword and swear to put of a stop to the era of fear to the hamlet of Floxfield.\nDuration of the game 3-5 hours \nContent warning: Body horror\nX card will be in use \nThe system: Deathbringer/Dungeon crawl classics \nDeathbringer is a rules light version of the world’s most popular roleplaying game and plays very similar to DnD 5e or other retro clones of DnD. The game does have some differences which I think will make it a lot of fun for a one shot\, highlights are deathbringer dice which are dice that allow you to roll a D6 to increase a D20 roll or do D6 extra damage or a D6 to reduce damage. \nSpells do not have slots but use a roll over system and the higher you roll the more potent the spell\, for this we will be using DCC (dungeon crawl classics) spell tables for. For more information please feel free to message me or check out this video Deathbringer RPG Walkthrough (Ep. 265) \nCharacters start at level 2\nDEATHBRINGER Hit Dice: d10. Use any armor or weapons.
