SUMMARY:Midsummer Masquerade
DESCRIPTION:This a roleplaying game intended to run over a single evening\, focused on atmosphere\, discovery\, and character interaction. It will be rules light\, using the Fate RPG system\, and open to all levels of experience! Aiming for a tone of mildly spooky fairytale and eery whimsy. Likely to have little to no combat. \nIt is Midsummer’s Eve\, the night when the fairy prince known as the Earl of the Farthest Home puts on a ball for select attendees. His chosen location is the old coaching inn\, the Queen in the Ivy\, beneath the eaves of an ancient\, drowsy wood. The inn is sheltered in the grounds of the ruined Honeysuckle Priory\, home to the fabled Font of Fancies. At Midsummer’s Eve\, the Earl offers those guests who impress him most to drink from the fountain and receive a single wish come true. You have received an invitation for reasons unknown\, written in moonsilver and sealed in hoarfrost. For reasons of your own\, you have chosen to attend the Earl’s party for a chance of a wish come true. Of course\, there are more invitees than wishes granted. Attendees must go masked and under pseudonyms\, and one must never reveal one’s true wish to another. The ball’s fame attracts attendants from far and wide\, and not all intend to play fair. Besides the Earl\, other powers walk the crooked hallways\, hidden behind mask and costume\, and intent on games of their own… But you needn’t worry about any of that. For now take a cup of Fra Holdstadt’s best in the low-beamed taproom\, listen to the melancholic mandolin of Jonquil the Fair and admire the famed carvings of green kings in the great fireplace. Listen to the summer rain fall against the mullioned windows and pay no heed to the scent of dead roses\, wafting from beneath the ancient floorboards… \n[5 available spaces] Adults only. Dark fairytale themes – no explicit sex or violence but some horror and lore-heavy. Estimated 4-5h long. This game will continue after sunset so bring lanterns if you have them! \n
