Modern Classics Multi-Game Tournament: Groups & Quarter Finals

Come test your mettle at a series of board games to prove yourself the ultimate Strange Games BoardGamer of 2023!

The tournament runs over 4 knockout rounds on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, for up to 32 players, and will feature Azul, Splendor, Ticket to Ride (London/San Francisco editions), Sushi Go, and Carcassonne.

In the interest of time please make sure you are familiar with the rules before play starts – if you don’t know any of these games, you could attend a New Friends & New Players Session held in Shackleton Lodge on Friday evening or Saturday morning.

Round 1: Groups, 2pm Saturday in the Village Square
Names will be drawn randomly into groups of 4 and assigned one of the games above at 1.45pm Saturday (feel free to come witness the draw!). Play will start at 2pm.

Round 2: Quarter-finals, 3.30pm Saturday in the Village Square
The top two players from each game in Round 1 will be assigned a new 4-player game to play next (as shown below).

Round 3: Semi-finals, 2pm Sunday in the Village Square
The top two players from each Quarter-final will be assigned a new 4-player game to battle for a place in the Tournament Grand Final.

Round 4: Grand Final, 3.30pm Sunday in the Village Square
The top two players from each semi-final will battle it out in a final 4-player game of Carcassonne (base edition) to be crowned The Ultimate Strange BoardGamer of 2023
