A live-action game based on the true story of Nicaraguan Sign Language, where deaf children in a country with no official sign language spontaneously created their own.
Players embody students on their first day of school. Along the way, they’ll make friends, learn about themselves and build their own language together piece by piece.

Players will select from pre-made characters. Gameplay is split between ‘classes’ and ‘recess’ with each session lasting around 10-15 minutes and will feature both the structured creation of a basic sign language and freeform interactions with other characters using that language. The game explores themes around what it means to communicate and to be understood. No RPG experience required. The game is very rules light. Total play time is around 2 hours

The game doesn’t feature any mature or triggering themes. We will use an X card and safety word so that if anything does come up during the game that players aren’t comfortable with we can remove it.

Please note that the majority of the game is played in total silence. If spending ~1.5 hours in silence doesn’t sound fun or interesting this may not be the game for you!

The game makes use of physical contact as a means of communication (e.g. characters tapping each other to get one another’s attention, or otherwise communicating using physical touch). If any players would be more comfortable not using any physical contact that is totally fine and we will discuss preferences before playing.

The game involves players drawing on their hands in pen. Washable ink pens will be provided.

This game is for players 18+ only
