What’s on at Strange Games Bristol?

The most awesome thing Strange Games events provide is space to meet and play with new friends in a lovely setting. Aside from the traditional Welcome Meet at 7pm on Friday in the central field, which is highly recommended, all events are completely optional. If you just want to hide in the woods, chill out, or play a relaxed game in your tent, go ahead!

As well as our extensive Board Games Library and all the indoor and outdoor spaces you can freely use for gaming around the site, we have some extra special games and meets to help you find a great time. Find out more below!

The Morning RPG Meet

To help GMs and RPG players find each other, we’ll be holding a little get together in the marquee on the central field at 10am on Saturday and Sunday.

The idea of these meets is to give GMs who want to run a game the opportunity to pitch their idea to the crowd, then afterwards everyone can socialise and people who thought the pitches sounded really fun can talk to the GMs and arrange a time to play. Even if you don’t want to pitch a game or even play one, it can be a great opportunity to come and make some like-minded friends and connections!

Megagames & Micro-megagames!

On Saturday at 1pm, in the side room of the main building, we’ll be running Den of Wolves: New Eden! There are up to 21 places available for this game and we expect it will run approximately 3-4 hours. Sign up at the Info Point.

In Den of Wolves: New Eden, you will play a member of a space fleet, survivors of a massive attack from the nation of Wolf. Together you will be trying to survive in space, flee further Wolf attacks and find a new home for your people – a New Eden. Beware, however, Wolf planted agents throughout the colonies before the attack and it’s highly probable that some will be hiding amongst other players in the fleet.

Then, on Saturday evening, hourly from 7pm in the same place, we’ll be running some brand new “micro-megagames“. These are designed to give that ‘megagame’ feeling for 5-7 players packed into just 1 hour! These will be run on a drop-in basis so no need to sign up, just arrive and get involved!

Starship Bridge Simulator

Throughout the weekend, you’ll also be able to get your sci-fi fix by taking on a vital role as one of the intrepid bridge crew of our Starship Bridge Simulator!

This exciting and immersive experience allows you to play a scenario of either 1 hour or 2 hours long and will run in “The Classroom” on Saturday and Sunday for up to 6 players. Sign up at the Info Point.
(Note: under 11s will need their accompanying adult to assist them at their station rather than signing up separately)

Social Deduction

Social deduction games, such as Werewolf or Blood on the Clocktower, will be run on a rolling basis by fellow attendees and friendly volunteers, at the north of the central field. You can look out for the green flags hanging from the shelters to see who might be recruiting for their next game!

We’ll also be running games of S.P.I.E.S. and MegaS.P.I.E.S. that you can sign up to play on the SPIES website. It’s a simple social deduction wordplay game played over the course of 1 hour or, for MegaS.P.I.E.S., over the course of the whole weekend! You’ll be given a single word to use in conversations to help you find members of your team, alongside information gathering and completing missions, so it’s great for breaking the ice.

Externally Provided Activities

Some activities may be run by the site so please them onsite or check their webpages for more information about how to sign up.

Please note, for safeguarding reasons we ask that all under-18s attending games and events be accompanied by a responsible adult
